Book fair at Mount Vernon Leadership Academy celebrates literature and creativity

Scholars at Mount Vernon Leadership Academy lined up outside of the gymnasium for the book fair on February 7, 2024. The book fair began on Monday, February 5, 2024, and will end on Friday, February 9.

Students chose from a variety of items including books, bookmarks, notebooks, pens and other school supplies. They were presented with a diverse range of genres to choose from, from nonfiction to science fiction, to find their newest read.

Schools across the District hold book fairs throughout the year to encourage students to read outside of the classroom.

Arielle Campbell, a second grade student at MVLA, is most excited about using her new notebook for homework and writing stories.

“I was looking forward to using my new journal because I need to write my homework down, then I need to write my stories,” she said. “I write nonfiction, fiction and I write about superheroes.
