MVLA holds Honor Roll ceremony

Mount Vernon Leadership Academy held an Honor Roll ceremony on Friday, May 12, 2023. Parents had breakfast with their children, and children received their Honor Roll certificates.

On Friday, April 28, 2023, Mount Vernon Leadership Academy hosted its Earth Day Parade. Fifteen students from Grades K-5 dressed in their Earth Day outfits and were cheered on by their classmates and family members.

Mount Vernon Leadership Academy hosted Mindful Mornings with Moms on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Maura Gutierrez, parent liaison, conducted the workshop in collaboration with parent liaisons Daveda James and Sandra O'Connor. 

In honor of Earth Day, several fourth and fifth-grade classes at Mount Vernon Leadership Academy participated in multiple recycled material STEAM-related projects. Throughout the month, students collected items like toilet and paper towel rolls, bottle caps, brown bags, aluminum foil and cereal boxes from their houses. 

“Ayan!” “Ayan!” “Ayan!” was being chanted by students throughout the gymnasium of Mount Vernon Leadership Academy, on March 30, 2023, to recognize Ayan Sabra, a kindergartener, who raised over $700 for the American Heart Association.

Mount Vernon Leadership Academy hosted a math night on Thursday, March 23, 2023. Parent Liaison Maura Gutierrez organized the event and donated gifts for the children. 187 parents, students and family members attended. Dr. Beverley Jones, Assistant Superintendent of Administration, Climate and Culture, joined to play math games with the children as well. 

Over 20 volunteers - Mount Vernon police officers, administrators, board members and even retired principal Peter Ragaglia - read to Mount Vernon Leadership Academy students on Thursday, March 2, 2023, to recognize Dr. Seuss Day, a nationwide reading celebration.

Mount Vernon Leadership Academy held its No Place for Hate (NPFH) “Stomp Out Bullying” assembly on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
